LEWISTON — Auburn Bantam White defeated Central Maine Gold for the Maine State Tier IV championship with a 2-0 victory at Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Goalie Savannah Shaw posted her sixth shutout of the season and Mitch Spurr and Cameron Dubay were the goal scorers. Tyler Couture, Conner Samson and Matt Verrill added assists.

The Auburn team is currently 16-1-1 against tier IV competition and has outscored opponents 108-19 during the season. Auburn will compete in the upcoming DU Hockey tournament to close out the season.

Team members include Blayne Arsenault, Jacob Bannister, Cameron Berube, Cade Chapman, Tyler Couture, Luc Dostie, Cameron Dubay, Matt Futch, Zack Gosselin, Nick Kelly, Kevin Knight, Mitch Lorenz, Ellie Mcbride, Conner Samson, Savannah Shaw, Mitch Spurr and Matt Verrill. Bantam White coaches are head coach Dana Berube and assistants Denis Berube, Mark Samson and Chris Spurr.

Lewiston girls’ teams in New England regional

LEWISTON — Lewiston girls’ hockey will be well represented this weekend at the New England Regional Tournament being held in Rhode Island.

Lewiston’s U12 and U14 teams both advanced to the regional tournament after winning their respective state championships two weeks ago at the Colisee. Both teams knocked off rival Casco Bay. The U12 girls set the tone with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win. The U14 followed with a hard fought 2-1 victory.

Each team will begin its quest for a regional title this Friday at 6:30 p.m. U12 will play at Smithfield Ice Arena in Smithfield, R.I. U14 will play at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, R.I.

Renegades announce tryout dates

GORHAM — The Maine Renegades will be holding tryouts for Full Ice Mites through Bantams on March 20 and 27. Tryouts will take place at the Renegades’ home rink at USM in Gorham. The Maine Renegades are a nonprofit organization whose main focus is developing players. They offer 100 hours of practice time and have Adam Nicholas of Stride-Envy Skating as the teams’ director of player development. All program skates are run by Coach Nicholas. The Rens also offer a full time goalie instructor. All teams will participate in the Valley League again next season.
