FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington Summer Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 25-29 at Prescott Field. The camp will be offered in half-day (ages 5-7) and full-day (ages 8-18) sessions. The half-day camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon, while the full-day camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applications are available at athletics.umf.maine.edu.

The camp staff includes UMF women’s soccer/lacrosse head coach Molly Wilkie and men’s soccer/lacrosse head coach Jon Evan. Players and coaches from the UMF men’s and women’s soccer teams will be on hand to complete what promises to be an outstanding soccer experience. Player development is our primary focus for each camp, with an emphasis on improving individual skill proficiency while having fun in a positive learning environment. Whether you are just starting out, or looking to elevate your game, the camp is for you.

The half-day camp focuses on players having fun while learning skills in an atmosphere that builds self-confidence and teaches good sportsmanship. Camp members have their first taste of worldwide soccer in our World Cup Game Day. Parents can come and enjoy the festivities. A curriculum has been designed that will encourage the development of the youth soccer player. These camps are co-ed and oriented around a playful and fun atmosphere. The emphasis will be on becoming comfortable with the ball while learning specific skills and individual tactics. A variety of games will be used to teach ball control and small group interaction. Small-sided games are played at the end of each session. Skill development, fun, and enthusiasm are shared throughout the week by coaches and players alike.

The fee for the half-day camp is $75. Each player will receive a T-shirt. All camps require a $25 deposit and a completed application with medical history. Checks made payable to UMF Athletics.

The main emphasis of the full-day camp will be on player development for all ages. These sessions focus on skill development as well as individual, group, and team tactics. Designed for the young player who has the desire to go beyond basic skill training, participants will build on the techniques learned and focus on putting skills to work in technical situations. Individual and group technical / tactical training along with position play are introduced and applied in daily training sessions as well as small-sided league play. Campers are separated by age. Skill development, fun, and enthusiasm are shared throughout the week by coaches and players alike.

The fee for the full-day camp is $145. Each player will receive a T-shirt. All camps require a $25 deposit and a completed application with medical history. Checks made payable to UMF Athletics.
