LEWISTON — Oxford Networks announced Thursday it is opening a commercial data services center at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

The telecommunications company has also acquired IT consulting firm Norton Lamb & Co. of Falmouth to provide managed IT services at the new facility.

Between the two facilities, Oxford Networks will add 20 new people to its staff of 120 employees.

The new facility, Oxford Networks Data Center, will offer broadband access to major networks, and will provide commercial server space, managed IT services, disaster recovery services, secure vault data storage and virtualization services, according to a company news release.

The company is highlighting the fact that because the center is located at a re-purposed former high-security military communications center, it will provide military-grade infrastructure capable of securing the most sensitive information.

Norton Lamb & Co. provides outsourced information technology solutions for manufacturing, health care, retail/distribution companies and government entities in New England and beyond.

Matt Jacobson, former gubernatorial candidate and Maine & Co. president and CEO, has been named executive vice president of sales for Oxford Networks.

“The Oxford Networks Data Services Center is a wonderful asset for the state of Maine and for the private sector. Now more than ever data security is on the mind of every business owner. For a business owner or CEO to know that their business’s most important information is safe and being properly managed is critical to their peace of mind and to their business success,” Jacobson stated in a release.
