AUBURN — Florence M. Laroche, 89, of Lewiston died peacefully on Thursday, March 29, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a short illness.
She was born in Lisbon, May 30, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Celina (Bolduc) Duval and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was educated in Lisbon schools and was employed as a stitcher in the local shoe industry for many years until her retirement.
Florence enjoyed crocheting, having made many blankets that she donated to d’Youville Pavilion and the VA hospital in Togus. She enjoyed family outings and traveling on bus trips with her husband to Foxwoods and Branson, Mo.
She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Parish.
She is survived by two sons, Roland Grondin and his wife, Janice, of Lisbon and David Katula of Litchfield; two daughters, Pauline Perreault and her husband, Richard, of Lewiston and Carol Abbott of Turner; two sisters, Helen Coombs and Rose Maley, both of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her husband Gerard Laroche’s family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Laroche, whom she married on Sept. 30, 1983; and who died on Oct. 24, 2011; a son, Roger Grondin; a granddaughter, Florence Grondin; three brothers; and six sisters.
