AUBURN — Gilbert J. Morin Sr., 79, of 85 Caron Lane, Auburn, died Monday, April 2, at the Odd Fellows Home following a long illness.

He was born in Madawaska, Sept. 9, 1932, the son of Henry and Edith (Pelletier) Morin and had been a resident of this community since 1943.

He was married to the former Lilliane A. Bernier, whom he married on Nov. 9, 1951; she died on Aug. 3, 2010.

He was a self-employed carpenter for many years until his retirement. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Lisbon Falls.

Gilbert was known to be a “Jack-of-All-Trades” and loved sharing his talents with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Gilbert J. Morin Jr. of Fairfax, Va., Daniel Morin of Lebanon and Donald Morin of Lisbon Falls; four daughters, Nancy Windle and her husband, Mark, of Auburn, Linda Verrill and her husband, Normand, of Monmouth, Annette Clark and her husband, Thomas, of Lisbon Falls and Edith Guay and her husband, Oscar, of Arundel; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Martha and Winnie Morin.
