LEWISTON — Imelda M. Dionne, 90, of Lewiston, formerly of Sanford, died Tuesday, April 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Claire, N.B., Canada, Aug. 3, 1921, a daughter of the late David and Catherine (Lang) Chasse.

Imelda married Camille Dionne on June 30, 1941, he predeceased her in January 1992. They moved to Sanford in May 1955, to provide a better life for their children. Imelda moved to Lewiston in 2000 to be with her daughter Yolande who became her primary caregiver.

She was a kind and hard working person who was very devoted to her family. She had a heart of gold and lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, especially during the holiday seasons.

Imelda had six children, four predeceased her, Gil, Dianne, Odette and Marie. Her deep faith in God and devotion to the blessed Mother Mary carried her through life’s challenges.

She leaves her two daughters, Yolande Dionne of Lewiston and Monique Dionne of Windham, N.H.; four grandchildren, Jeff Dionne and wife, Bridget, of Lewiston, Michelle Shepard and husband, Scott, of Sanford, Christina Dionne of Sanford and Sasha and Seth Berek, of Windham, N.H.; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Megan Shepard, Jonathan and Victoria Balda and Ava Dionne; and several nieces and nephews.
