BETHEL — Richard S. Kimball, 82, of Bethel, died Tuesday, April 10, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in East Bethel, July 16, 1929, the son of Ceylon and Doris Davis Kimball. He was a lifelong resident raising his own family on the same homestead where he was born.

He worked many years for Malloy’s Construction in Rumford until his retirement in 1992, due to complications with his MS.

He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with his family more than anything. He was avid about building airplanes and flying them with his son and grandsons.

He loved his heritage Harley trains and his old one lunger engines. He belonged to the Maine Antique Power Association. He always enjoyed the Fryeburg Fair and listening to Joe Perham.

His love for life and people will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed by his family, friends and his special companion, Spike.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia; daughters, Beverly Sylvester of Bethel, Debra Mills of Bethel, Nancy Ashenberener and husband, David, of Wyoming, Brenda Platt and Craig, of New Hampshire, and Penny Savage and husband, Keith, of Greenwood; sons, Ceylon Kimball of West Virginia, and Amos Kimball and fiancee, Carrie, of Bethel; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Adell Springer and husband, Keith, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Kimball Jr.; granddaughter, Melissa Sylvester; brothers, Mellon and Donald; and sister, Isabel Boyce.
