Ralph Butts of 16 Cottage Street, Lewiston, undoubtedly saw the man who killed John W, Bibber Wednesday, and was, unintentionally, the means of preventing that person making his escape according to a pre-arranged plan. Mr. Butts saw the man as he came from the vacant White lot and started to cross Main Street. Mr. Butts in unable to furnish any description of the man, beyond saying that he thinks he wore an overcoat.

“When will it end?” More than one resident of the Twin Cities had those words in mind this morning, as nearly three inches of cold wet snow pushed along by a breeze covered spring greenery of the area, created dangerous travel conditions, and brought boots and overshoes out of closets once again.

Fifty firemen deliberately destroyed a dilapidated and abandoned century-and-a-half old family home on Harris Hill Road, Poland, Sunday morning in a five-town mutual aid training exercise. Participating firemen saved two huge maple trees from damage by hosing them down while the house was burning.
