AUBURN — United Way of Androscoggin County, together with community partners in the Young Child Taskforce, is celebrating the Week of the Young Child, running April 22-28, with the second annual Touch a Truck Event Saturday, April 28, at Central Maine Community College, 1250 Turner St., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Larry Marcoux, director of community impact at United Way, stressed the organization’s commitment to improving educational opportunities in Androscoggin County. “Early childhood education is vital to our community,” he said. “Children need a strong early learning foundation to succeed in school and go on to succeed in life. Opportunities like the Touch-a-Truck event help open a child’s imagination and capacity for learning.”

Touch-a-Truck is a community-wide event where kids and the young at heart have the opportunity to see, touch, interact and learn about dozens of cool vehicles. From fire trucks to tractor trailers, police cars to the Channel 8 News Satellite, garbage trucks to rescue vehicles of all types – kids of all ages love the loud and unique vehicles. There will also be a children’s book swap and several children’s activity tables.

This is a free event and will be held rain or shine.
