LEWISTON — The Lewiston Adult Education department has announced the course schedule for this summer.
Day and evening courses will be available for those interested in finishing their GED/high school diploma, gearing up for college or building skills for a new job. Classes start July 10 and meet at Lewiston High School, unless otherwise noted.
Computer/office skills courses will include: Microsoft for the Workplace, MS Excel I, MS Excel II, QuickBooks Workshop, and Office Practice. Most of the courses count as credit toward Lewiston Adult Education’s clerical, medical office and accounting assistant certificates.
Other certificate courses will include the Culinary Arts Certificate and a Certified Nursing Assistant training course. The CNA course will start June 19; interviews will be held June 6 and 7 at 3 p.m.
Academic classes that offer high school diploma credit as well as college/nursing school prerequisite credit will also be available, including Algebra, Applied Algebra, Biology, Chemistry and Critical Reading Strategies for College or Work.
Lewiston Adult Education will also offer day and evening sessions of the College Transition Program, starting May 22. This program is available at no cost, and will meet at the B-Street Community Center.
GED, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Citizenship and Adult Basic Education classes are also available year-round, and are held at the Adult Learning Center, 145 Birch St.
