BRIDGTON — Dorothy “Dee” Tarr, 70, of Bridgton passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 1.
She was born in Scranton, Pa., May 29, 1941, the daughter of Cyril and Cecelia Alles. She attended schools in Scranton, Pa., Archbishop Williams in Braintree, Mass., and did undergraduate work at Harvard and the University of Southern Maine.
She married Philip Tarr on Sept. 1, 1962. She had been employed as an executive secretary for Robert Woodbury, president/chancellor of the University of Southern Maine and later the executive secretary for the President of Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital, now known as Bridgton Hospital.
She was a member of the Windham Fire Auxiliary and had been a volunteer at the Windham Community Center in its early stages. She assisted elderly people, helping those in need. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and going out for lunch.
She is survived by her husband of Bridgton; a son, Michael of South Portland; a daughter, Heidi Lapianka of Alpena, Mich.; three grandchildren, Veronica Tarr, Hannah Lapianka and Zachary Tarr; and her cat, Sammy.
