LEWISTON — Doris Belanger and Peg Bissonette have started Friends Alternative Care which provides support services to seniors in the community.

Services include personal care and companionship, and are designed to enable seniors to remain as independent as possible in the care setting of their choice, be it their home or a care facility.

Services can be customized to meet individual care needs and could include help with bathing, dressing and grooming; meal preparation and feeding assistance; incontinence care and skin care; and assistance with ambulation.

Also, transportation, escort and errand services, homemaker services, respite services, companion services and help managing bills.

Each care solution is available at hourly rates.

Belanger has more than 35 years of experience in health care, including in geriatrics, rehabilitation, dementia, and hospice care. Bissonette is a volunteer chaplain with experience working in residential care facilities and local hospitals.
