LEWISTON — For 17 years, Denise Morin has touched the hearts, minds and weary bodies of cancer patients through Connected Touch Massage. In return, they have touched her spirit and taught her lessons she believes are worth sharing.
In her new book, “In Honor of Them (Life’s Lessons from Cancer),” Morin gives voice to her clients, telling true stories of their loves, laughs, trials and triumphs as they enter the final stages of their lives.
Morin, who works part time at the Patrick Dempsey Center as well as at Central Maine Medical Center, does not charge for her services. The payoff, she says, is the wealth of knowledge and insight she has gained from clients. Morin challenges readers to “look at cancer with new eyes,” to find hope and promise where they once only saw fear and dread.
A book signing, hosted by Lisa Laliberte, daughter of one of Morin’s former clients, her husband, Mark, and Kate and Paul Landry, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Fish Bones American Grill. To R.S.V.P. or for more information, call Laliberte at 783-3332. Morin may be contacted at 576-4090 or www.connectedtouch.org.
