CARTHAGE — Dwayne & Duane will bring their East Coast Celtic and roots music, blended with gypsy and jazz sounds, to Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, June 6.

The duo, aka Dwayne Cote and Duane Andrews, will also take the stage at Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts in Unity on Thursday, June 7. 

Andrews, a multi-ECMA Award-winning guitarist, has released three albums and has taken his music, heavily influenced by gypsy jazz legend Django Reinhardt, worldwide.  

After graduating from the jazz studies program at St. FXU with honors, Andrews spent several years studying contemporary music composition at the Conservatoire International de Paris and at the Conservatoire National de Region in Marseille, France. 

Cote was born and grew up in Nova Scotia. His mother, Gladys Stone Cote, was a renowned dancer, instructor and performer in the Maritimes in the 1970s and mid-1980s. His father is the late Gordon Cote, a celebrated Celtic fiddler who performed with Bobby Brown and The Cape Breton Symphony.

A violinist and fiddler, Cote is known for his distinct classical tone that also holds true to Cape Breton traditions.

The concert, presented byNew England Celtic Arts in partnership with Music Newfoundland, is at 7 p.m. at Skye, 7:30 p.m. at UCCPA. A jam session for audience members and performing artists is slated one hour prior to show at both venues. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive. UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
