AUBURN — A Boston woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to two charges stemming from a January fight with a boyfriend at a Lewiston apartment where police say he was stabbed.

Saynab Said, 27, was indicted on a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault.

Police said she was arrested after a 4½-hour standoff with police that ended with a child opening the door at 16 Prescott St., Lewiston.

Following an argument, Kevin Karvelis, 28, who lived at the same address had gone to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment of a five-inch cut on his left arm. He also had been cut on his back. Karvelis had told police he sustained those injuries from a fall.

A tenant in the apartment building said he heard Karvelis yell at Said that she had cut him as he was leaving the building to go to the hospital early in the morning.

She remains free on bail.
