On May 26, Melina Masselli of Lewiston presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society with the donations from her 10th birthday party. Melina, a fourth-grade student at Farwell School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests donated pet food, treats, toys, cleaning supplies and hay for the shelter, which provides a safe haven for more than 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The shelter is at 55 Strawberry Ave.
