LEWISTON —Funeral services were held Wednesday for Norman J. Marquis at Holy Family Church in Lewiston, following prayers at Fortin Group Funeral Home. Officiating was Msgr. Marc Caron with Deacon Irenee Richard con-celebrating. Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by granddaughter, Jennifer Bates, and sister, Greta Chabot. Daughter, Donna Bates, read a Bible reading; and sister-in-law, Helene Marquis, read the Prayer of the Faithful.

Committal prayers were recited at St. Peter’s Cemetery by Deacon Richard. The Prayer of the Faithful was lead by granddaughter, Lizzy Marquis, daughter, Donna Bates, and sister-in-law, Helene Marquis.

An honor guard from the US Army played taps. Following taps, the U.S. flag was presented to Norm’s wife, Theresa, by their grandson, Sergeant James Ellis III. The funeral procession consisted of Norm’s grandsons, Matt Bates, Zach Levesque, Mike Marquis and Ken Bates, who served as urn bearers; flag bearer, James Ellis III; and cross bearer, Joey Marquis.

The celebration of Norm’s life concluded with a colorful release of balloons that were personalized with loving messages from family and friends.
