AUBURN — Meineke defeated Skelton, Taintor & Abbott, 17-5, in Auburn men’s softball at Pettingill Park. Meineke’s defense held ST&A scoreless in five out of seven innings. Jeff Goss went 4-for-4 at the plate. Greg Rose had three extra-base hits, including a two-run home run. John Langelier and Ryan Wilson both went 2-for-3. Fred Collins was the winning hurler.

Riverview Dental continued its winning ways with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Greenleaf t Tribou Field. Riverview improved its record to 6-1 at the halfway point in the season, and they are in pursuit of a fourth consecutive trip to the league championship game. Riverview won the title in 2011, and has compiled an impressive 22-5 overall record during the past two seasons. On a steaming night at Pettengill Park, the Buffalo Wild Wings Brew Crew came from behind to beat Great Falls Security 9-7. Both teams played outstanding defensively. Great plays by Brent Cary, Tyler Merchant, Joe Locke and Adam Woodbrey helped set the tone for the BrewCrew. John Graybill’s 3-for-3 day at the plate help turn the tide offensively. Joe Locke, Scott Tiner, Chad Merchant, Tyler Merchant and Mo Gauthier all had timely hits to key rallies. Jeff Dionne
continued his excellent pitching on the mound pitching to Mike Rioux. John Varney’s triple in the top of the seventh scored Jason Boenig from first base to cap the comeback victory. The Brew Crew evened its record at 4-4 and looks forward to its next game against Emerson Toyota.

AUBURN — Maine Rec softball tournament will be played July 7. This is for all lower level teams that want to compete for a state title. Entry fee is $240, and this will be a one-day event. T-shirts to winners along with MVP and All-Tournament awards. Contact 212-7424 for more info.
