MANCHESTER, Maine — An alleged bank robbery went bust Thursday afternoon when a state trooper confronted the suspect in the parking lot.

According to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, Trooper Dane Wing was in the parking lot of the Savings Bank of Maine in Manchester when he noticed a “young man with a mask.”

Wing confronted the suspect in the parking lot. Then suspect drove off in an SUV towards Winthrop with the trooper in pursuit, according to the release. 

In downtown Winthrop, the suspect in the SUV hit something and then took off on foot. He was tackled by local residents and then taken into custody, according to the release.
