SACO — Police say a 77-year-old man crashed his car through the front door of a Saco supermarket but no one was injured.

Police say Philip Bender of Biddeford had just finished shopping and loading groceries into his vehicle at about 4:45 p.m. on Monday when he got in his car to pull out of a handicapped parking spot.

Police say the vehicle accelerated, struck a parked car and veered across the parking lot before making a right turn into the front doors of the Shaw’s.

The Ford Focus went through a pair of glass doors before stopping against an interior wall.

Bender was evaluated at the scene before a friend picked him up and drove him home.

He has not been charged, but the incident remains under investigation.
