AUBURN — Central Maine Orthopaedics has announced that Paul Cain, M.D., has reached his 25th anniversary with the practice.
Since joining CMO on July 1, 1987, Cain has seen the practice move its operations to Minot Avenue in Auburn, open an ambulatory surgical center at its main site, and a partnership emerge with Central Maine Medical Center to create the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine.
Cain is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with areas of specialty including sports medicine, arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and knee, knee ligament reconstruction and cartilage restoration. He served as president of the CMO board from 2007 to 2011. He currently serves as chairman of the Central Maine Orthopaedics board of directors.
Cain serves on the medical staff at Central Maine Medical Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, and Rumford Hospital’s courtesy medical staff. He performs surgery at CMMC in the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, and CMO’s Ambulatory Surgery Center. He is also available for consultation at the CMO Orthopaedic Clinic at Rumford Hospital.
Cain also serves as team physician for Bates College and served as team physician for the now disbanded Lewiston MAINEiacs hockey team. In the May 2012 issue of Down East magazine, he was named one of the top orthopaedic physicians in the state of Maine.
