EAST DIXFIELD — Music will fill the valley once again on Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, when Larry Bisbee hosts the Countryfolk Reunion & Barn Dance.
“So many folks have asked for a music weekend that we decided to host one event this summer,” said Bisbee, owner of Countryfolk Music Theatre on U.S. Route 2.
“We will have an old-fashioned barn dance on Saturday night featuring classic 1960s and country music performed live by Seminole Wind (Jeff and Donna Wells of Farmington) , a popular group who knows how to get the audience up and dancing,” Bisbee said.
The dance, from 7 to 10 p.m., is free; any donations will go toward Countryfolk youth music scholarships.
On Countryfolk Reunion Country Sunday, 20 to 30 volunteers musicians will play from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Among them are Nickels and Dimes, Stained Grass and Off The Hill, as well as many returning individual award-winning performers. The free, family-friendly event will be held rain or shine.
More than 250 musicians, playing country, bluegrass and 1960s music, have performed at Countryfolk over the past 13 years and are invited to return for the weekend.
A country and bluegrass pickin’ party will be held for musicians all day Saturday. Camping is free for musicians and their families. For more information, call Bisbee at (207) 645-4411.
