PARIS — A special election to fill former selectman Ted Kurtz’s seat on the Board of Selectmen is being held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Paris Fire Station.
In the running are James Hakala and Robert Wessels, who both ran in the June 12 election. Hakala lost to Sam Elliot, who is now chairman of the board, and Wessels lost to Gerald Kilgore.
Hakala, who manages Hakala Transport, a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service, has been on three town boards and committees recently and has attended every Board of Selectmen meeting in recent years.
Wessels has lived in the area since 2003 and worked as a manager at Walmart before becoming the store manager for U.S. Cellular stores in Paris and North Conway, N.H.
Kurtz who resigned from the board in June when his law partner left the firm. He said he won’t have time for the board now that he’s running the firm on his own. The term ends June 30, 2013.
