AUBURN — Gregory W. Day, 64, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly on July 1.

He was born in Lewiston, April 6, 1948, the son of Malcolm and Henrietta (Roderick) Day. He had a great love of music throughout his life. As a child he played the accordion and became an extremely talented keyboardist.

In his 20s, he played the organ for many Ogunquit area hotels. He was a member of several popular Lewiston-Auburn bands in the 1970s and

1980s including, Wildflower, Good & Plenty and 7th Heaven. He also gave piano lessons for many years to area residents.

He had a knack for carpentry and did much of the work himself restoring a 1900 home in Monmouth, where his children grew up.

He loved being near the ocean and spent much of his time in Old Orchard Beach. He also had a special fondness for The Bug Light Park in South Portland.

He is survived by his six children, Steven Day and fiancee, Lisa Bell, of Auburn, Jennifer Hill and husband, Chadd, of Litchfield, Samantha Cyr and husband, Jaime, of Glenburn, Justin Day and wife, Christina, of Shalimar, Fla., Melissa Michaud and husband, Robert, of Monmouth and Joseph Day and wife, Lissa, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; his brother, Lauriston “Larry”

Day and wife, Mary Jo, of Monmouth; and a very special friend and companion, Teresa Piacitelli and her three children, Johnny, Marty and Connie, of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his parents.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
