From July 30 to Aug. 10, One Big Sustainable Island will be hosting a professionally guided archaeological dig that will explore the ancient ceremonial sites on the island, located on Lake Annabessacook, Monmouth. This educational and entertaining program will build on what has already discovered in previous investigations done by the Bates College Archaeology Department where 10,000 year old artifacts have been uncovered. Proceeds of the program will be dedicated to the 1BSI building fund and any artifacts discovered will be displayed at 1BSI and then donated to the Maine State Museum. Registration closes on Wednesday, Aug. 1. For information visit www.1bigsustainableisland.org or contact [email protected] or 512-2524.
