Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppe was founded in 1939 by Sam Bennett. It was located in Auburn, Maine. In the early years, Sam’s was making only Italian sandwiches and catering to the Lewiston-Auburn area. Over the years, Sam’s expanded to other locations throughout Maine to include Rumford in 1993. As the years passed, Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppe expanded its menu to include Italian-style dinners and fresh-dough pizzas. It now operates under the name Sam’s Italian Foods. Sam’s has always been, and continues to be, a Maine-based company owned by local people.

The Sam’s Rumford location can be found in the heart of the scenic hills of Western Maine on Route 2 at 583 Prospect Avenue. Sam’s is open year-round seven days a week. Throughout the Rumford area, Sam’s is known for its famous Italian sandwiches and fresh-dough pizzas. In addition, Sam’s in Rumford has a spacious upstairs dining room, which can be reserved for small and large gatherings.

Sam’s continues to be a strong supporter of the Rumford community and has been a long-time member of the River Valley Chamber of Commerce. The entire staff and management team at Sam’s would like to thank the communities of the River Valley for their continued support and patronage. The Sam’s team takes great pride in being a part of the Rumford community.
