AUBURN — The 195th Army Band Brass Quintet will perform at Auburn’s Festival Plaza at 5:30 p.m., weather-permitting, on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The one-hour performance precedes the weekly summer concert presented by the Auburn Community Concert Band.

The 195th Army Band’s Brass Quintet plays traditional and popular Americana, ranging from patriotic to Broadway to ragtime.

Comprised of the 195th Army Band’s finest brass players, the quintet performs regularly in both formal and informal settings throughout Maine and New England.

Starting at 7 p.m., the Auburn Community Concert Band will present “Music by Sensational Groups,” the ninth concert in its 11-week series. The free, 75-minute concert will feature hit songs by such well-known bands as Count Basie, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, Journey, Queen, the Doors, the Four Seasons and the Beatles.

Concertgoers are urged to bring a lawn chair. If it rains, the band concert will be moved indoors to the Hilton Garden Inn at Great Falls Plaza. For more information, call the Auburn Recreation Department at 333-6601, ext. 2108, or visit www.auburncommunityband.com.
