1922 – 2012

AUBURN — Martha M. Lufkin, 90, a lifelong resident of Livermore Falls, died Thursday morning, Aug. 9, at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn.

She was born April 24, 1922, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Carl Hall Lufkin and Martha (Taylor) Lufkin.

Martha was a 1940 graduate of Livermore Falls High School, A 1943 graduate of Farmington State Teacher’s College and received her Bachelor degree in education in 1953 from University of New Hampshire.

She was a member of Maine Teacher’s Association and the National Teacher’s Association. Never having married, Martha devoted her life to teaching. She retired from the Livermore Falls School system in 1982.

She enjoyed the times spent with her family and friends; and loved spending time at her home.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Geraldine Lufkin, and her nephew, John Lufkin, both of Livermore Falls. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Carla and Elizabeth; and her brother, William “Bill.”
