SAN DIEGO — Donald P. Carney, 64, of San Diego, Calif., passed away on July 29, from pancreatic cancer.
Donald was born Feb. 21, 1948, in Lewiston, to Wilfred and Albertine Carney. He attended Lewiston schools and enjoyed working in the trucking industry all of his life.
Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and then retired from Co. C 133rd Engineers of the Maine National Guard, with more than 24 years of service combined. In 1988, Donald married Bonny, the love of his life. They enjoyed many wonderful years together. They traveled all over the country in their “18 wheeler” and many times included a grandchild or two.
Together in 2009, they decided to move to San Diego, Calif. They soon made many wonderful friends there and enjoyed so much of California.
Donald will be dearly missed by his wife, Bonny; three daughters, Donnella Carney of Lewiston, Monica Carney of Tampa, Fla., and Kathy Lynn Carney of Lewiston; a stepson, Marc Montreuil of Auburn; two stepdaughters, Crystal Adkins and Holly Lebel, both of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Carney of Windham and Dennis Carney of Windham; three sisters, Louise Roy of Lewiston, Cathy Lajoie of Lewiston and Linda Dennis of Virginia Beach, Va.; Donald leaves many, many grandchildren, who he loved so much; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his mother, Albertine in 1998; his father, Wilfred in 1978; and his brother, Emile Carney in 2001.
Donald will be missed. His smile lit up the room when he entered. He never asked for anything and always gave his all to everyone. He was a great man.
