DURHAM — Vivian L. Brown, 88, of Durham, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born in Durham, Aug. 24, 1923, a daughter of the late Charles W. Larrabee Sr. and Martha K. Wilkinson Larrabee. She lived her entire life in the Durham area and attended local schools graduating from high school. On Jan. 30, 1943, she married Robert W. Brown. They were happily married for 62 years until his death in 2005. She was a past member of the school board in Durham, the fire department auxiliary, the Sawyer Cemetery Committee and she volunteered for LACO at the food pantry. She loved horses, attending local fairs with her grandchildren, trips to “Wild River” with her husband, gardening and spending time with her dog “Susie.”

Vivian is survived by her grandchildren, Robert Brown, Tammy Bard, Donald Brown and Carol Brown; her sisters, Lillian MacFarlane and Gladys Curtis, her brother, Charles Larrabee Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her daughter-in-law, Penny Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents; she was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Brown; her son, Donald R. Brown; and special friends, Lou and Ann Sylvester.
