AUBURN — Donald E. Ham, 95, a former resident Beach Road, Monmouth, died peacefully on Sept. 9, at the Hospice House.

He was born in Wales, July 3, 1917, the son of Ernest E. and Margaret (Goss) Ham. He was educated in Wales schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. Don joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. On March 28, 1938, in Lewiston, Don married Marjorie L. Anderson.

Following several years of employment for the local telephone company, Don became self-employed owning Don’s Electric for 30 years. He was a member of the United Church of Monmouth, Monmouth Fish and Game, a 50-year member of the Monmouth Masons, a 37-year member of the Monmouth Lions and was instrumental in the formation of the Monmouth Water District as well as the Monmouth Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Auburn; a son, Gerald Ham and his wife, Gail, of Gardiner; son-in-law, James Dineen of Scituate, Mass.; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Dineen of San Diego, Calif., James Joseph Dineen and his wife, Kate, of Portland, Ore., and Tammy Ham-Thompson and her husband, Greg Thompson, of Gardiner; two great-grandchildren; a great-grandson, Calahan Dineen of San Diego; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Ham-Thompson of Gardiner; special relatives, Mildred Jones of West Bath, Cynthia Goodenough of Brunswick, Deborah J. Henderson of El Cirrito, Calif., and Judi Jones and her husband, Harris Tracy and son, Grayson, of Brunswick; nieces, Judy Powers and husband, David, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Diane Little of Wales; nephews, Bruce Little and his wife, Chris, of Auburn and Stuart Little and his wife, Ellen, of Walpole, Mass.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Constance Dineen, Oct. 22, 1989; and a brother, Robert Ham.
