OTISFIELD — George “Wes” Weston Brooks left this world peacefully in his home of Otisfield, on Sept. 21.
A native of Rangeley, born to Merle and Rachel Huntoon Brooks on Feb. 25, 1936, a Class of ’53 graduate of Rangeley High School, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. He was a proud alumni of the University of Maine. He moved to Connecticut, where he was employed at the Hartford Insurance Company for 36 years. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Linda, moved back to Maine, as Wes always said, “It’s the way life should be.” Wes was an avid reader, loved to discuss world politics and enjoyed cooking.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 33 years, Linda “Lynn” of Otisfield; his children, Weston Brooks and wife, Karen, of Tolland, Conn., Jeff Brooks and wife, Lori, of Hebron, Conn., Michelle Harrison and husband, Jim, of Tolland, Conn., Jean Zdanis of East Hartford, Conn., Joy Marshall and husband, Roy, of South Windsor, Conn., and George Zdanis and wife, Patty, of North Haven, Conn.; his grandchildren, Ashley, Karlee, Tanner, Mitchel, Rachel, Madaline, Dustin, Jessica, Niki, Michael, Greg, Nathan, Kellie and Jordan. He also leaves behind one of the best neighbors a guy could have, Steve Jordon of Otisfield.
