This is in response to the May 14 column by Cal Thomas concerning money provided to members of the British Parliament. People must keep in mind that members of Parliament are under-compensated in comparison to their counterparts in the U.S. Congress. The allowances for living expenses have always been a recognition of that fact.

While the redress can be open to question, the British government may want to increase members’ pay to bring compensation more in line with American counterparts.
