FARMINGTON — Emery Community Arts Center on the UMF campus will present the following events.

Oct. 15, 22 and 29, 7 p.m., The Cafe Project Concert Series. A student-run, weekly performance by local musicians from the campus and community. Free and open to the public, this series is held in the Performance Space.

Oct. 16 through Nov. 16, In the Realm of Folklore; opening reception, Oct. 16, 5 p.m. The six women in this exhibition acknowledge the power of folklore on the collective conscience in an array of works that span from projects in social practice to crafted art objects. The artists have approached this exhibition from the perspective of six American women united in their self-identification as American. Free and open to the public, this series is held in the Flex-Space Gallery. The ECAC Flex Space Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Oct. 18, 7 p.m., Worlds Apart: Fulbright Professors Share Their Experience in Bhutan and Northern Ireland. UMF creative writing faculty members and Fulbright Scholars Gretchen Legler and Jeffrey Thomson present stories, images and writings from their experiences. Free and open to the public, this event is held in the Performance Space.

Oct. 31, 11:30 a.m., Liz Phillips — The Resonance of Weather. The sounds that Phillips produces in her work originate from a myriad of sources: sensors, grounding fields, radiating fields, transducers, interfaces, sub-audio frequencies and homemade loudspeakers such as a bowl or a vase. In her talk, “The Resonance of Weather,” Phillips will encourage the audience to consider the three-dimensional form of sound, something as flexible and elastic in time-space as a tree in the wind. Free and open to the public, this event is held in the Performance Space.
