During this election season, there have been letters to the Sun Journal about both candidates for the Maine House District 68 seat in Auburn.The letters stressed the strong personal qualities of both candidates and, indeed, both are fine people.

However, I must support Bettyann Sheats for that office.

As a veteran, I support her service to this country in the United States Army. As a retired working person and union advocate, I appreciate her support for working families. She is also a small business owner who knows the problems small businesses face. Her priorities are about helping people help themselves.

That experience will serve her very well as she works for her constituency as District 68 representative to the Maine House.

Change is needed in Augusta and Bettyann Sheats can help to deliver that change.
