LEWISTON — Normand Louie Bonnevie, 87, of Jay, died early evening on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Marshwood Nursing Home.

He was born March 1, 1925, in Livermore Falls, a son of Mathias and Fidelise (Despres) Bonnevie. Normand attended local schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. He was with the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Division F Company. He was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star for meritorious actions during the Phillipine Campaign, where he was also awarded the Purple Heart.

Normand worked as a self-employed upholsterer in Jay for many years. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima in Jay and a member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 in Jay. He was also a member of the DAV.

An avid vegetable gardener, Normand was notorious for the wonderful tomatoes he grew. He also enjoyed photography and developing his own pictures.

He is survived by a brother, Reginald Bonnevie of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Arthur, Aurele, Raymond, Paul, Elzeard, Gerard and Annette Bonnevie.
