100 years ago, 1912
A new business that will employ from 800 to 1,200 hands will locate in Lewiston. According to present plans, the firm of Donovan and Libman, manufacturers of felt goods, will move its factory here shortly, if suitable quarters can be secured. The concern is now manufacturing goods in a factory a few miles outside of Boston. The firm makes felt hats, saddle pads, college and club banners and pennants, blankets, etc.

50 years ago, 1962
A 67-foot-long building being moved from Washington Street, Auburn, to a site on the River Road, Lewiston, ran into some difficulties today. Moving crews managed quite well until the large building entered Lewiston over the South Bridge. The first bit of trouble was encountered at the intersection of Lincoln and Cedar streets, when it was found the building, 30 feet wide, would not clear all wires. One had to be cut. Once on Lincoln Street, it was found that the building was too large to pass down the street as long as there were cars parked on both sides. Lewiston police were called to have cars moved. Further difficulty was experienced at a curve near the intersection of Lincoln and Locust streets. One utility pole had to be cut down.

25 years ago, 1987
The American Legion held its costume ball in Lewiston Saturday. The winning couple was George and Anita Martin from East Monmouth, dressed as hillbillies. First place single went to Wink Beaulieu of Lewiston, dressed as a woman, and runner-up was Joline Girouard of Lewiston, dressed as a clown. Over 100 couples and singles attended.
