LEWISTON — Lucille M. Savard, 79, of 1285 Sabattus St., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, at her home, after a long illness, with family members at her side.

Lucille was born in Lewiston, Dec. 1, 1932, the second of three children to Edgar and Alice (Breton) Robichaud. She was educated in local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1950.

On Dec. 29, 1951, she married Leo N. Savard at St. Peter and Paul Church. In 1963, she opened a beauty shop, which she operated from her home until 1970, at which time she attended Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute (now Central Maine Community College) and obtained her licensed practical nursing certificate. Her nursing career lasted 18 years and included positions at d’Youville Pavilion/Marcotte Nursing Home and the Marshwood Nursing Care Center in Lewiston. Following her retirement from nursing, she worked alongside her husband in the family business, Amerifirst Appraisal Co., as office manager, until her “official” retirement in 1994.

Lucille enjoyed home decorating and catalog shopping, camping in earlier years and was a very avid and dedicated Boston Red Sox fan.

She is survived by her husband and primary caregiver in her final years, Leo; three sons, Gary and wife, Diane, Paul and wife, Doris and Norman and longtime companion, Bonney Gallop; a sister, Irene St. Denis; a brother, Robert Robichaud and sister-in-law, Claudette; six grandchildren, John and Brian Savard, Stephanie and Anthony Savard, Josh Savard and Elizabeth (Savard) Ouellette; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Jeremy Savard in 2000; and a brother-in-law, Robert St. Denis in 2009.

Special thanks from Lucille’s family to Bonney Gallop for providing her nursing skills which were invaluable and to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
