Town office donations

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Town Office will be collecting food for the Dixfield Common Road Baptist Church Food Pantry through Friday, Nov. 30.

Monetary donations and donations of nonperishable food items may be dropped off at the town office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Monetary donations may also be mailed to Town of Dixfield, PO Box 808, Dixfield, ME 04224.

Quilters to meet Nov. 12

RUMFORD — The Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street.

To participate in the “holiday tasting party,” bring approximately 30 small servings of a favorite recipe as well as the written recipe to share.

Red and gold fabric Festival of the Trees Christmas tree ornaments will be collected. A rotary cutter demo is planned.

Still being accepted are 12.5-inch Arrowhead Puzzle, “fun fabric” and leaf squares. There will be show and tell and sewing and quilting ideas.

Veterans Day turkey dinner

RUMFORD — A Veterans Day turkey dinner with all the fixings will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Rumford Grange.

The dinner will be free to any veteran. The cost for others is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

GREENWOOD — SeniorsPlus, the area agency on aging, will be at the Greenwood Town Office from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, the Norway Town Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and the Rumford Town Office from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions or concerns. All events are free and open to the public.

Bakers needed for cookie walk

RUMFORD — The Christmas in the Valley committee is preparing for the annual Christmas in the Valley craft fair to be held at the Mountain Valley High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

At the fair, a cookie walk is held, with proceeds going to the Christmas in the Valley scholarship fund that benefits Mountain Valley and Dirigo High School seniors each year.

The committee is seeking bakers to donate two dozen cookies, or more, of any kind. Members would like to beat last year’s amount of 75 dozen cookies for sale.

Cookies can be dropped off at Franklin Savings Bank on Congress Street on Friday, Nov. 30, before 3 p.m.
