LEWISTON — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options, announces that Joyce McPhetres and William Schulz have joined the organization.
MCHO is a not-for-profit, co-op health plan that will provide health insurance to individuals and small businesses beginning in January 2014.
McPhetres, of Topsham, was hired as the chief human resources officer. Prior to joining MCHO, McPhetres was the vice president of human resources and organizational development at Central Maine Healthcare in Lewiston and a first vice president at MBNA America in Belfast.
She has a master of education degree in community counseling and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Maine. She is MBTI certified and an experienced mediator.
Schulz, of Portland, has been hired as the director of provider network operations. He will manage the organization’s provider relations and develop and maintain the health plan’s provider network.
Prior to joining MCHO, Schulz served as the state director of Residential Resources of Maine, based in Scarborough. He has also held senior-level positions at multiple health plans, including Great West Health Plan of Northern New England in South Portland as well as Martin’s Point Health Care and Blue Cross Blue Shield, both based in Portland.
Schulz earned a master of the arts degree in theological studies from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, Calif., a master of the arts degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor of the arts degree in English from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. He also served on the board of the St. Mary’s Regional Health Care System in Lewiston.
Schulz and McPhetres join Kevin Lewis, chief executive officer, and Robert Hillman, chief operating officer, to comprise the MCHO senior team.
