PORTLAND — The Cathedral of St. Luke will once again be the setting for Renaissance Voices’ Christmas performances.
The 21-voice a cappella ensemble, under the direction of Harold Stover, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the church at 143 State St.
The concert opens with music of the 16th and 17th centuries by Orlando di Lasso, Palestrina, Weelkes, Praetorius and other Renaissance composers; and closes with a set of traditional English carols and “The Little Road to Bethlehem” by 20th century English composer Michael Head.
As is their custom, the singers will intersperse the music with readings appropriate to the season.
Admission is $15 at the door. Discount tickets, $12, may be purchased at www.RenaissanceVoices.org. Admission for students is $5 (at the door only) with a valid student ID. The audience is invited to a reception after the concert.
