LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions held an open house recently and welcomed approximately 200 visitors. The college offers associate degree programs in nursing, radiologic technology and nuclear medicine technology. Certificate programs are available in computed tomography and nursing assistant. General education courses are offered each semester and are open to the public.

Twenty-two students guided groups of visitors around the campus. A panel of students answered visitors’ questions. Staff and faculty hosted event booths providing information on admissions, financial aid, program offerings, support services and career opportunities. Nursing faculty demonstrated equipment in the new simulation lab featuring SimMan, who can breathe, blink and speak. Medical imaging faculty and students demonstrated technology used in their programs.

Visitors learned about the college’s new Pre-Health Professions Career Track. This option offers the student a path towards acceptance into one of the degree programs in nursing or medical imaging.
