The Theatre Arts Group at Oxford Hills Christian Academy is entering their last week of rehearsals before their annual Christmas production. This year the team of high school thespians will be performing a two act play called “The Christmas Express,” produced by the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Ill. In a run down old train station, in a town where everyone “lost hope long ago,” the station manager’s friends try to get her into the Christmas spirit, but it’s not until a mysterious stranger arrives on the platform that things really begin to change. This family friendly play is full of laughs, as well as a reminder about hope and the true expression of Christmas. The Theatre Arts Group is composed of nine high school students this year. They are directed by Oxford Hills Christian Academy’s high school English and theatre arts teacher, Michelle Wheeler. The play will feature the acting talents of stage veterans Ronnie Dyck, Amanda Komulainen and Kayla Decoteau-Hodgkins, as well as newcomers Kyle Emerson, Hope Proctor, Laina Pulkkinnen, Isaiah Strong Gassama, Macarthur Kim and Gavin Booker. Performances will be held at the Hosanna Church on Schoolhouse Road in Oxford at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, and at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Doors open half an hour ahead of time. Tickets will be sold at the door. They are $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. Concessions will be sold at intermission.
