I think the Nov. 25 Sun Journal editorial, “Culture wars really heat up over Christmas,” was an attempt to reduce Christianity to a minor place in society. It was a rationalized assault on Christianity.

I think we should face the fact that Christianity is under assault today, as it was not during my youth. We should also face the fact that morality is under assault today, as it was not during my youth.

I think it is obvious that Christmas, when millions of people around the world celebrate the birth of the young man who preached forgiveness, love and peace, is under assault.

May I say with humility, and some fear, God be with us. He is there.
