LEWISTON — The Boston String Quartet, one of few string ensembles worldwide to write all original music and arrangements, will bring its “Christmas in Paris” concert to the Franco-American Heritage Center.

The Thursday, Dec. 20, performance will explore Parisian life with music from hit movies such as Scorsese’s “Hugo” and the French award-winning “The Illusionist.” Also featured will be music by jazz legends Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, native French super group the Gipsy Kings and popular Parisian singer Edith Piaf. The quartet will also sing traditional French carols.

Accompanying the music will be videos of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre.

“By writing original compositions for string quartet, we are paving a way for our traditional instruments in a world of contemporary music” cellist Christina Stripling said.

Concert tickets are $20/children under 18 admitted free. Tickets may be purchased online at bsq.ticketleap.com or www.francocenter.org. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St.
