FARMINGTON — A local man is accused of kicking out a police cruiser window Sunday after he was arrested and accused of continuing to call emergency dispatchers despite warnings to stop.

Sgt. Michael Adcock arrested James Moores, 53, of Farmington, on a harassment by phone charge, Rachel Heseltine, secretary for the Farmington Police Department, said Monday.

According to Adcock’s report, Moores kept calling dispatchers, harassing them and threatening to file a lawsuit, she said.

A dispatcher issued a harassment warning and advised him not to call again, she said.

When Moores continued to call despite the warning, a dispatcher notified police of the calls.

Adcock believed the calls wouldn’t stop and located Moores at his apartment in Farmington.

Moores admitted to consistently calling dispatchers, according to the report, Heseltine said.

Adcock drove Moores to the Franklin County Jail in Farmington.

Once there, Moores kicked the rear driver-side window and smashed it out, she said. Adcock issued Moores a summons on the criminal mischief charge, she said.

The Police Department is already down one cruiser, and the vandalized one now puts a second one out of commission, she said.

Moores appeared in court Monday and his bail was set at $150 cash, a corrections officer said. Moores was still at the jail early Monday afternoon.
