NEW YORK (AP) – A Bronx man was arrested for allegedly killing a 22-year-old woman, stabbing her father when he came to her aid, and then turning the knife on himself, police said.

Sheldon Becker, 45, was arrested on charges of murder and attempted rape after the Christmas Day attack in the Throgs Neck section. Police said he stabbed himself in both arms.

Dimaris Lopez, who was stabbed in the chest during the attack, was pronounced dead on arrival at Jacobi Hospital, police said. Her father, who was stabbed in the chest and side, was in stable condition there.
