Planning for Lake Auburn 5K

AUBURN — The first planning meeting for the second annual Lake Auburn Half Marathon, 5K Run, 5K Walk, kids run and bike tour will take place from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at CMCC.

Museum offers Pies-To-Go sale

MONMOUTH — Monmouth Museum is taking orders for its President’s Day Pies-To-Go Sale.

Pies need to be ordered by Feb. 9. The pies are then picked up and paid for on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Packard Activity Center, under the United Church in Monmouth, between 10 a.m. and noon.

Orders are taken by Nancy Ludewig, 933-4677, or Jackie Wing, 933-2837. The fundraiser benefits Monmouth Museum’s programs and maintenance.

Available pies are apple, blueberry, cherry, custard, peach, quiche without meat, pecan, rhubarb, sweet potato, chicken pot pie and quiche with sausage. The number of pies is limited. Chicken pot pie is $15; all other pies are $12. All pies are baked in 9-inch pie plates.

‘Jane Ricker Tea Party’

POLAND — The Ricker Memorial Library will hold a “Jane Ricker Tea Party” from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Community Room at the library on Route 26. The event is free and is to honor Jane Ricker and the 50th anniversary of the Ricker Memorial Library. Desserts will be offered.

Valentine bake sale Feb. 12

BRUNSWICK — The annual “Sweets for the Sweet” Valentine Bake Sale at Mid Coast Hospital will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the hospital’s Cafe Corridor, sponsored by the Auxiliary.

“Sweets for the Sweet” will be offered in many different ways, including homemade candy, pies, very popular plates of cookies, cakes, tarts, coffeecakes, yeast and quick breads, and cinnamon rolls. All will be wrapped in cellophane bags in small portions, tied with red ribbons, and perfect for gift-giving.

Auxiliary members, hospital volunteers, employees and community members all donate their special homemade baked goods for this annual sale. Donations may be left at the Volunteer Office between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, when packaging is done.

Proceeds benefit the Auxiliary’s health career scholarship program, which annually awards $40,000 to worthy mid coast students. Application deadline is April 15, and applications are online at www.midcoasthealth.com/volunteer.
