AUBURN — Central Maine Community College won its final regular-season conference women’s basketball home game Wednesday evening, 93-29, over the Rams of Unity College.

The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back, forcing 28 turnovers, and snagging 19 steals. The dynamic duo of Susie French and Maggie Sabine led the way for CM. Each scored 20 points, and both shot over 70 percent from the floor.

Chanel Chillers came off the bench to score 13 points and pull down six rebounds. Maggie McConkey chipped in with 10 points and seven  assists, and Danielle McCusker tallied 11 points in only 12 minutes of play.

CM dished out 25 assists and shot 55.6 percent from the floor as a team. Andrea Miller paced the Rams with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win CM improves to 18-4 overall and 13-0 in the Yankee Conference. CM travels to South Portland on Thursday for a crucial matchup with rival Southern Maine Community College. The women will tip-off at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.

UNE 61, E. Nazarene 47

QUINCY, Mass. —  University of New England first-year Lauren Hayden had a career-best 18 points while senior Beth Suggs eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau by scoring 16 as the Nor’easters defeated Eastern Nazarene College, 61-47, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game Wednesday at LaHue Physical Education Center.

With their school-record 13th consecutive victory, the Nor’easters (18-4, 15-0 CCC) clinched the top seed for the upcoming CCC Championship. Leading by four games in the standings with three regular-season contests remaining, UNE is seeking its first unbeaten CCC ledger since joining the league in 1999. The Nor’easters have now won 10 straight versus Eastern Nazarene (10-12, 5-10).

Hayden, whose 18 points led all scorers, tallied 14 on 5-for-6 shooting in the first half. She finished with a 7-for-8 performance from the floor to go with six steals.

Suggs connected on a jumper with 11:22 left in the game to become the 21st player in program history to score at least 1,000 points. Needing nine markers to reach the plateau heading into the contest, she also led all rebounders with eight.

Junior Kelly Coleman added 10 points and five boards for the Nor’easters, who never trailed on the evening.

Bangor 4, Poland/G-NG 2

AUBURN —  Nick Graham and Jake Fournier scored in the second period Wednesday to break open a tie game and boost Bangor past pesky Poland/Gray-New Gloucester, 4-2, in Class A boys’ hockey.

Zach Papsadora assisted Fournier’s goal and added his own with just under four minutes to play to ice the win for the Rams.

Calvin Shelley made 38 saves for the Patriotic Knights, who had power-play goals from Kaleb Bridgham and Ethan Cailler. Each assisted the other’s goal, and Nevin Rand had a helping hand in both tallies.

Camden Hills 8, Leavitt 3

CAMDEN —   Grayson Szumilas scored two goals Wednesday night, leading undefeated Camden Hills past Leavitt, 8-3, in Class B hockey.

Camden Hills (12-0) scored five consecutive goals after Leavitt’s Jacob Gladu tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second period.

Tyler Hutchinson also scored a goal for the Hornets (3-10-1). Nick Allen made 37 saves.
