JAY — The Jay-Livermore Falls Lions are sponsoring a Speak Out public speaking competition for students attending Spruce Mountain High School in Jay and Livermore Falls at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at St. Rose Parish Hall.
This is the third year that students from Spruce Mountain High School will be able to compete in Speak Out, member Rob Taylor said in a release.
Speak Out requires students to make a speech of approximately five minutes on a topic of their own choosing. Following the speech, students will answer a few questions from a panel.
Students are scored on the presentation of their speech, public speaking skills and their ability to answer questions related to the speech’s topic.
“It is a great chance for students to share what they think about a topic of interest to them and to develop important public speaking skills,” Taylor said.
